So I just got back from going downstairs to wax the old brows, and then buy my lunch. When I went to buy my lunch, this woman, who is always on the cash at the kitchen table ...and usually has a smile on her face, or is at least chatty....looked a little deshevled. I said to her "How are you?" she ignored me...wasnt even making eye contact. Then I said...."Hope your okay, you dont really seem yourself today, you look a little stressed"......at which point she began to read me the riot act......

She yelled at me "What a horrible person you are, why are you ruining my day"...I was like "errrrrrrr...I was just trying to ask how you were"..she said.."you are being very rude, and ignorant, and it's none of your fucking business how I am doing today......got it?".....I was like "errrrrrr......" Shocked, because she is usually normal..but holy BITCH! That I somehow felt guilty.....that I had said something in a rude manner....

Is mentioning that someone looks a little stressed rude>?>? Maybe my mum just forgot to teach me some social rules I just learned about 10 minutes okay.

Boooo to rude Kitchen Table people!

Sinnick posted recently about the Oprah episode that was about a man who was pregnant. It was actually a transgendered man..who once was a woman. I really enjoyed the episode, and really found the love between the couple very sweet.

I really wish that americans in particular would focus on the people that are becoming parents and not the lifestyle, or orientation, or even gender in this case. I think that both of these people on Oprah represent exactly what parents should be. They were sweet, kind, caring, and intellegent. They were family focused. They were happy people.

It bothers me so much when people pigeon hole people because of assumptions, or judgement. I lived in South Africa during apartheid ...and I understand very well what bigotry and hatred can do to an entire society.

I hope these people are treated fairly and supported throughout this pregnancy...although it may be outside of our realm of what is familiar...that does not make it wrong.

So very recently Nick got me a TIVO for my birthday (which is so awesome by the way)...anyway...I have been able to start watching all those shows I miss while I am at work.

One show I am just hooked on is the Barefoot Contessa on the Food Network. She is so cool...and all of her recipes seem so easy to do, and its about the cooking and not the host (don't even get me start on Nigella Lawson)....

One of the things I really enjoy is that she is always going to cute little shops close to where she lives and she buys fresh ingredients, like really cool cheese and fresh seafood. It makes me want to go down to St. Lawrence market every lunch hour and guy something yummy for dinner......which I might just do one of these days when its not snowing like a bitch.

Anyway---I will stop my rambling, since I havent posted in forever, and this must seem like a bizarre post :)

Well we offically moved this weekend. This really was my first offical move. I mean, I helped sinnick when we moved from Delware, but that was his stuff, and he did most of the packing. This time, I was fully involved.

Here are the things I discovered while moving:

1. Driving a big ass truck is scary
2. Sinnick is very good and driving said big ass truck
3. I am really out of shape--and basically useless when it comes to loading the truck
4. I am a fantastic packer
5. Moving makes me feel like my world is turned upside down
6. When my stuff isnt in its usual "stuff" place, my brain shuts down and I talk giberish
7. Swimming in my new tub is fun---its fricken huge
8. Cleaning is much more work than I ever thought it would be
9. New houses make wierd noises that keep you up at night
10. Nick seems to sleep like a baby, right through the new noises.
11.You can literally spend thousands of dollars at HOME DEPOT when you own a home
12. Reading the instructions on a Carbon monoxide detector is like reading the bible (same length)
13.Nick is really good and hooking stuff up (Nerd benefits I tell you!)
14.I can use a drill, I can use a screwdriver
15.My dad is just awesome, except when he sets a towel on fire in my kitchen
16.Filters for Furnances come in every imaginable size & ability
17.There are seven thousand different sizes of drywall plugs
18. Fortinos is a cool grocery store --and local
19. Cars are essential in the suburbs.
20. and the one sinnick hates the most---I am a BITCH when moving.

So we officially get possession of this house tomorrow. However, courtesy of my screwed up brain, every single night this week I have dreamed of living in this house. Last nights episode was my dreamed up version of the reality of tomorrow night when we get the keys. In my dream, when we arrived at the house all the neighbors were at the house for an auction. The previous owners were auctioning off all their possessions. I was trying to tell them that they needed to get the stuff out because we were about to move in. So, they asked us to help them all move the furniture out before we moved out furniture in. CRAZY!

So bascally, while sleeping last night, I moved. I really felt like I moved too, because in my dream I kept having to take breaks because of how heavy the other people's furniture is. Also, somehow I installed phones in every single room & I repaired drywall. (all of which in reality I don't think I know how to do)....

Dear Mrs. Brain, can you please dream of something relaxing tonight. How about just for tonight you dream of a trip to the Dominican Republic. Maybe sitting in a pool bar, sipping some coconut beverages. Or, if you really need to dream of the house, dream that we are enjoying the hot tub for the first time or something. Please don't make me dream of moving over and over again. YOUR MAKING ME CRAZY!

Okay--this is my attempt at correcting that.

In the last few months we bought our first home. We take possession on Nov 30th. So much to do. I have offically picked my paint colours (Benjamin Moore Historial mostly)...I have ordered our washer/dryer, oven and fridge, which are all to arrive Dec 9th, 2006. Our designer at work helped me come up with some FLOW for our house---so all the paint colours flow from room to room. Really nice. Now--we have almost no furniture--but I am sure we will acquire some of that as we go. The carpet doesnt exaclt match anything, but I am secretly hoping we can catch that in 2007 (on the main floor anyway).

What else..we also bought our first car. A City Jetta. They are awesome. Dealing with insurance people was hillarious, the prices really are all over the place. We ended up going with Meloche Monnex, which was significantly cheaper than everyone else. They are fast. I like it.

Anyway--I am sure lots more has happened...but I thought I would update you all in the world of sinnick & myself.

So last night I made sinnick hummus (home made) to go along with our dinner. Really, the entire motivation was to use these cute little serving dishes I got from the wedding, and to play with my cuisnart.....but anyway..I made hummus. Sadly, it was a tad salty. I ran out of garlic, and decided to add "garlic salt" instead. Bit of a mistake, but all in all, for my first hummus adventure, it turned out pretty good.

So---my point. This morning, I take 2 small chicken breasts to work for lunch. I add hummus on top of it, for some moisture. Then I warm it up at work. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmm! It tastes so awesome. Seriously, so good. I am sure somewhere in the middle east this has been done for all of time, but this morning it was a new idea for me, and I love it.

Now--is it just me--or is Sea Salt a hell of a lot stonger than regular salt. Why is that? Does anyone know anything about sea salt.

Tonight I am making cheesecake (chocolate mocha)...and a chocolate cake for a shower on Sunday. I am really getting domesticated. Now sinnick may want me to add some honestly here. I probably havent cooked for at least a month, we have just been eating whatever comes quickly out of the fridge....but in the last 2 days I have really been getting back on top of my culinary skills :)

That game between Germany and Argentina was seriously stressful. Not that I want either team to win the World Cup---but Germany won! HOLY SHIT! Argentina, one team favoured to win the whole thing, it out! Yipppppeee!

Now on to Italy & the Ukraine (I am secretly routing for Italy...although I can't tell my coworker Italian Sammy that because screwing with him is way too much fun).

Tommorow is the one I really care about. The game of games...ENGLAND VS. PORTUGAL. I shouldnt eat before this one---because seriously----I dont know if I could keep it all down during the game. I have my England flag hung from my filing cabinets----but---I want to take it home---but then--they have won when its been on my filing cabinets....so even though I am usually not into wierd magic/fate crap...it is staying on my filing cabinets.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ENGLAND!
I am not even much of a sports fan (other than the occasional tennis match/gymnastics on tv thing)..but I GO NUTS during the world cup....NUTS!

A couple of you have asked me if their is anything you can bring to Cuba. When we went, we wished we had more when we traveled into Moron and saw how many things are needed. I have visited a few websites, and many say that you should not give money to people in the streets. However, you can go to a local school in Moron, or leave gifts for your staff at the hotel. These are items that are really needed:

Office Supplies
Pencils, pens, paper, rulers, staplers and staples, scissors, blank diskettes and CDs, scotch tape, pencil sharpeners, glue, notebooks, white-out/liquid paper, plastic folders, felt-tipped highlighters, staplers and staples, paper clips, post-it pads, rubber bands, envelopes, etc.

Medicine
Vitamins C, E, A, multivitamins, Tylenol, aspirin, ibuprofen, antibiotics, disinfectants, band-aids, antihistamines, anti-inflammatory drugs, tampons and sanitary napkins.

They also really enjoy baseball. You are under no obligation to bring any of these things, but they are such lovely people, and cannot get many of these things because of the embargo.

I have never been there before, although I believe Nick has been a couple of times in earlier years. The Mill, which apparently was built on the ruins of the first manufacturing building built in York, or what is now Toronto, is just beautiful.

They had a band playing, which I really really enjoyed. They played music that was enjoyable, yet still blended into the background while you where eating. You know "Fly me to the moon" jazzy, yet lounge like music." It was great!

Nick and I sat and had a wonderful time, and really enjoyed the night out. I recommend the place, I fricken love it!!!
